Eight-year-olds are at risk of sexual exploitation on apps like Tik Tok, charity warns

British children as young as eight are at risk of  being sexually exploited on popular video sharing sites such as Tik Tok, children’s charity Barnardo’s has warned.

Children and teenagers using streaming services are being targeted by predators in the comments function of live videos and are being encouraged to engage in sexual activity online, the charity said. 

Tik Tok, a Chinese app that surged ahead of Snapchat and Twitter last year and is used by thousands of British teenagers to view and create short video clips, has recently been the subject of safety concerns.
